Strengthen Your Relationship

I have been thinking as of late about ways to strengthen your relationships. I came across this article by Barton Goldsmith.

In the article, there were these seven questions. They really resonated with me.

WHAT CAN I HELP YOU WITH RIGHT NOW?

Most of us have too much on our plates, and an extra pair of hands can make a big difference in getting things done. Plus, doing things together is better than solo and is a great time to bond.

HOW CAN I SHOW YOU I LOVE YOU?

Words are easy to say. An action is something totally different. We all know that actions speak much louder than words. Find out how your partner would like you to display your love. Whatever their request, your offer to display your love will make your partner feel loved and cherished.

IS THERE ONE LITTLE THING ABOUT ME THAT YOU WOULD LIKE ME TO CHANGE?

Tread lightly here. If you and your partner are not on the same page currently, this would NOT be the ideal time to ask this question. It can spark a serious, not to mention, a tricky conversation and potentially hurtful. It would be smart to emphasize the word little. Sometimes we unconsciously do things that make our partner uncomfortable, but it is not quite annoying enough for them to tell us. By asking this question, you can stop a little annoyance from becoming an issue.

IS THERE SOMEPLACE SPECIAL THAT YOU WOULD LIKE TO GO?

This question is great. It is always great to have something to look forward to. Now, obviously budget could be an issue. Possibly a place nearby, that they would like to go with you. Showing interest is a fantastic way to build support and fosters happiness.

WHAT IS IT ABOUT OUR LIFE TOGETHER THAT MAKES YOU HAPPY?

This question will allow your partner to think about all the things he or she enjoys about your relationship. Just talking about the joys will make the two of you feel closer and add more depth to your connection.

IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO TO MAKE YOU FEEL MORE LOVED?

This sweet question will most likely leave your partner speechless. Even if you have a great relationship, your mate can surely think of something that can make your love even stronger.

WHAT IS SOMETHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO DO TOGETHER THAT WE HAVE NEVER DONE BEFORE?

This can certainly open up some ideas to excite you both. You can play around with different ideas, better ways of communicating with your partner, until you come up with a couple that really sound great. Remember, doing new things with your partner will make you feel closer.

We can get so caught up in our daily stuff, even couples with excellent communication skills can forget to ask a partner what he or she needs or wants. If you can get better at asking the right questions, your relationship will be better for it. It will!!
